A Venetian Mascarade Wine Tasting:
Angela will be hosting the club at her home in the north Wilmington area.
Please bring your favorite Italian Vino to share and Angela will be providing homemade Italian food!
Costumes strongly encouraged
Parking is on the street.

Hope you all had a great summer! Everyone is back to work and school and its time to get back together to drink some wine! We are trying to finalize a couple of open dates for the next couple months, if you are interested in hosting a wine club meeting, email us at: wine01.club@gmail.com so we can get the information out to everyone.

Delaware Today approached us for an upcoming article they are doing on wine clubs in the area, and thanks to John over at Vino 100, our club will be mentioned in the article!! (Gotta love free press) This got us thinking that if our group gets much larger, maybe we should try doing something on a larger scale in addition to our intimate wine tastings at member's homes.
Would anyone be interested in a formal education on little known wines? There would probably be a fee involved, but our club could partner with area wine shops, wine distributors, restaurants and sommeliers to do some fun and informative tastings in a classroom-style format every other month. The wine partner could offer discounts on the wines tasted that evening and they get some free press from our website and word of mouth. From what the DE Today writer said, there aren't too many active wine clubs around, so this could put us on the map, per se, and drive traffic to our local wine partners' businesses.
**Please submit comments here to let us know your thoughts and interest to see if it is worth pursuing. This would be a great opportunity for us and future members to learn the basics of wine tasting, ordering, buying, etc!

They live in Nottingham, PA, which is about a 1/2 hr south of Longwood Gardens.
Their focus will be on German white wines and they ask that you please bring a food item that will go with your wine.

Wine01's June Monthly Tasting
will be held @ 7:00pm on Friday, June 22, 2007
at Ben & Kelly's Home in Wilmington

Wine & Pizza Tasting:

For our third tasting, Ben and Kelly will be hosting the club at their home in the historic Cool Springs area of Wilmington. Parking is on the street.
Please bring two bottles of your favorite wine that you enjoy drinking with good old fashioned PIZZA!
There will also be a pizza tasting, from three different local pizza establishments, which will be provided by the hosts.

Please respond to our email invitation to let us know if you are going to attend so we can make sure we are prepared with enough food and glassware.
**We also will be planning our calendar out to the end of the year, if you are interested in hosting one of our upcoming monthly tastings or have a unique idea (themed tastings, beer tastings, etc.), bring your date books and be prepared to give us some dates you would like to host one of our club tastings!

May's Monthly Tasting

Wine01's May Monthly Tasting will be held

We will be trying something different each monthly tasting.*

For our second tasting, Chip and Meg will be hosting us all at their home in Gradyville. Parking will be limited, so park at the bottom of the hill either in the Post Office lot, or across the street in the Antique Shop's parking lot.

Please bring a bottle of your favorite wine and a dish that goes with it to share! This is a very casual group who enjoys good company, great conversation and even better wine.

Please repsond to our email invitation to let us know if you are going to attend so we can make sure we are prepared with enough glassware.

We had an intimate group of 12 people for our first meeting. The food was excellent, the wines were diverse and interesting, and the group was alot of fun!

To celebrate the birth of Spring, it was decided that our first wine selection to highlight would be Pinot Grigio, so bring a bottle that you enjoy and be prepared to speak about it and post information on it on our blog to share with everyone.

The chef/owner of Sovana has graciously planned a customzed menu of nibbles to compliment our wine selection of Pinot Grigio. We will be sharing this delicious food (cheeses, pizzas, antipastas, etc.) as we taste the different wines. There is no corkage fee, but the food will be about $25pp plus tip.
